Therme Manchester New Building and Completion Date Update

An update has been revealed on the opening date of the Therme Manchester as the build is set to begin.

The plans for the new Manchester water park, Therme Manchester, were initially announced in 2020, where it was revealed that it will include 20 pools, 35 waterslides, a beach and will be the size of 19 football pitches.

The enabling groundworks were completed late last year, and it has now been announced that the construction phase will begin at the end of this month.

Completion of the £450 million project is scheduled for the end of 2028. An official opening date will be announced nearer the time.

Therme Manchester is set to create around 2,500 construction jobs (direct) with a peak onsite of 1,200.

It will also employ 650 staff to operate the resort and will build long-term partnerships with local businesses, charities and community groups.

Therme Manchester is hosting ‘Beyond Groundbreaking’ today, Friday 12th September – a celebration event to mark the official start of construction on what will become the UK’s largest wellbeing resort and one of the most significant building developments for the North in many years.

What is Therme Manchester?

Aiming to be more than just a waterpark and spa, it will use the latest technology, and they intend to make the development even more sustainable and deliver additional exciting features for visitors.

These features will include the world’s first living waterslides with a 3D printed superstructure to house thousands of plants and trees, as part of its ‘next generation’ water park area.

If that is not enough, there will also be a family zone with a wave pool, waterslides, indoor and outdoor pools and Manchester’s first beach.

Plus, you will be able to enjoy an adults-only area with swim-up bars, warm-water lagoons, mineral baths, steam rooms and a sauna, along with a variety of classes.
