Discover things to do and what’s on in Manchester this May half term for families and kids. 

The May half term is upon us and that means looking for ways to entertain the kids.

Depending on where you live in Manchester the kids may have one or two weeks off. Although some school holidays may vary most will be off on the following dates.

Areas on May half term for 1 week from Monday 29th May to Friday 2nd June 2023:

Whether the kids are off for one week or two, you will be glad to hear that there are some great things to do, places to go and events right across Manchester and Greater Manchester to get you out and about.

Spring Escape – Trafford Centre

Head to the Trafford Centre for a May Half-Term fun fair.

There will be an array of rides for all ages from the Starflyer and Waveslinger to Funhouse and Bumper boats. 

You will also find food and drink stalls selling some fun fair favourites.

Peppa Pig’s Aquarium Adventure, Sealife Manchester

Saturday 27th May to Sunday 4th June 2023 

Join Peppa on an interactive trail through the at Sealife Manchester.

Make your way through the aquarium and help spot seahorses, fishy friends and crabs and learn lots along the way.

Plus you can meet Peppa herself at the end of the trail. 

Tickets start at £20.50 for adults and £17.50 for children when booked online.

Fun Fair at Debdale Park

The fun fair is back at Debdale Park over the first week of May Half term. 

There will be fun fair rides for all ages from adrenaline junkies, to families and children’s rides. 

You can also expect side stalls, food and treats. 

Plus rides will cost a maximum of £2 per ride.

Seaside Carnival, Knowsley Safari

27th June to 4th June 2023 

Less than an hour’s drive from Manchester Knowsley Safari is a popular school holidays day out. This May half term they have lots of extra fun in-store with their Seaside Carnival event. 

Enjoy acrobatic skills workshops, pier-themed game stalls, giant striped deckchairs, and lots more all included in the ticket price. 

There will also be seaside favourites including the Coconut Shy, Bottle Ring Toss, Beat the Buzzer and Ball in a Bucket will keep you entertained you can even collect stamps for prizes (11.00 am to 4.00 pm each day)

Of course, you will also be able to enjoy all the usual fun of Knowsley including their foot and car safari and lots more.

Ticket to Knowsley Safari cost from £22.50 for adults and £19.50 for children with discounts available when booking on line.

Totally Jurrasic, Walkden

Dino fans will adore the new Totally Jurrasic attraction in Walkden. 

Featuring over 100 huge dinosaur models with everything from T-Rex to Stegosaurus, it makes a fun immersive experience. 

There will be a chance to walk around a museum-style exhibition of colossal dinosaur models with lots of photo ops along the way.

Tickets cost £5.95 each, under 2’s are free and family tickets available for £20 all plus a booking fee. 

Entry also includes a complimentary family photo.

The Library Of Enchantment Escape Room, Z-arts

Head to Z-arts in Hulme for a fun family escape room over the holidays 

Aimed at children over 6 years and their adults, the escape room will feature clues, puzzles and challenges with the aim to try to escape the room within the hour.

Go on a trail around Tatton Park as you Join Sophie and her mummy, who has had a visit from a big, furry, stripey tiger.

The tiger has eaten all the food and drunk all the drinks in the house! Now they need to buy lots more food to eat.

Half Term at Science and Industry Museum, Manchester

Located in Manchester City Centre, the Science and Industry Museum is always a good bet for a free day out. 

This half term they have lots going on from drone displays and navigating Lego space rovers , to dog robots and more there to do for all ages. 

Plus you can also check out their Power Up event with lots of fun gaming systems to try and Turn It Up Power of Music exhibition.

Head to LEGOLAND Discovery Centre for a fun half-term event. 

The City Minifigure team as they set epic LEGO City Missions for you to complete across the Centre.

There will be missions and chances to earn stickers, test your stunt skills, find messages in the street art and have fun with family brick-building games and competitions (competitions only until the first week of the holidays and weekends).

Along with the flower trail which will see 10 installations around the city, there will also be entertainment, a parade, food and drink zones and lots more.

Carousel Fun Fair will be bringing their rides and stalls to Wythenshawe Park for May half term. 

The fun fair will feature lots of different rides for all ages, plus inflatables and even a waterslide. 

There will also be stalls, food and the chance to meet and greet dinosaurs. 

Carousel will be offering unlimited wristbands for just £11.99.

This May head to Lancaster Park and Animal Farm to try your hand at Lamb Feeding. 

Help bottle feed the lambs who love their warm milk. 

You will also be able to enjoy all the fun of the farm including meeting their animals, play areas and caterpillar rides. 

Admission to the farm costs £6.50 per person, under 1’s are free. Bottle feeding costs £3.00 per bottle.
