Discover Additional Needs and Autism Friendly Family Events for all ages throughout Greater Manchester here.

Having a child or a a family member with Autism or additional needs means that it is not always to get out and about. To give families a little help we have put together a list with dates and times of places to go and attractions in Manchester who offer Autism and Additional Needs sessions.  

Always check with the organiser before setting off in case of changes. 

Autism Friendly Sessions at Sea Life Manchester 

Sea Life Manchester host Autism Friendly Sessions on Tuesday Mornings during term time between 10.00am and 1.00pm and select Thursday Afternoons between 4pm and 6pm (last entry 5pm). 

During the sessions Sea Life Manchester turn off the music, make the lights as standard as possible to offer a more comfortable experience. They also have additional staff on hand to provide assistance if needed. 

The Autism Friendly sessions at Sea Life Manchester will take place in 2020 on the following dates :

12th March
2nd April
14th May
11th June
9th july
10th September
8th October
12th November
10th December

See, Make and Do at the Museum – Autism-Friendly Mornings at Manchester Museum 

Running on the second Saturday of every month, the Autism-Friendly Mornings at Manchester Museum at aimed at childrenaged 5 to 15 years who have autism and additional needs their families and carers.

The sessions include activities inspired by one of the Museums exhibitions from 9.15 to 11.15. Plus there will be a chance to explore the museum at a quieter time from 9.15 to 10.00am before they open to the general public. There is also a quiet room available to anyone who needs it. 

The sessions are free and drop in and will have the following themes each month. 

8th February 2020 – Natures Library Gallery

14th March 2020 – Fossil Gallery (The Home of Stan The T-Rex)

11th April 2020 – Living Worlds Gallery 

9th May 2020 – Natures Library Gallery 

13th June 2020 – Fossil Gallery (The Home of Stan The T-Rex)

11th July 2020 – Living Worlds Gallery 

8th August 2020 –  Natures Library Gallery 

12th September 2020 – Fossil Gallery (The Home of Stan The T-Rex)

10th October 2020 – Living Worlds Gallery 

14th November 2020 – Natures Library Gallery 

12th Decmber 2020 – Fossil Gallery (The Home of Stan The T-Rex)
