What to Expect

Creating the Great Wave

Saturday 18th July 2026
11.00am – 3.00pm

Enjoy a family-friendly day of creativity inspired by Beneath the Great Wave: Hokusai and Hiroshige. Led by local schools, this special event invites families to take part in hands-on activities using natural materials and explore how nature can inspire their own Great Wave creations.

Free, drop-in and will run 11.00am – 3.00pm

PLAYTIME

Wednesday 22nd July to Friday 28th August 2026

Get creative with PLAYTIME at The Whitworth, where art meets play.

Inspired by the gallery’s exhibitions, these sessions encourage children and families to explore, experiment and create using a range of materials and playful activities.

With opportunities for open-ended making and imaginative play, it’s a great way for children to explore their creativity during the summer holidays.

The events run Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays from 1.00pm – 4.00pm

PLAY Days
