Tameside Wellness Centre Everything You Need To Know.

The new Tameside Wellness Centre is now open we have everything you need to know from prices to facilities and everything in between. 

Active Tameside and Tameside Council’s new facility Tameside Wellness Centre now open and we were invited along to take a peak. Located in Denton town centre, the Tameside Wellness Centre aim is be a communnity hub boasting a large soft play area, bowling lanes, two swimming pools, gym, health suite and even a roof top fitness space and sensory garden and we have everything you need to know.

The self contained iPlay Zone soft play area is aimed at babies and children up to the age of 12 and has plenty to offer. Babies are toddlers are well catered for with seperate areas for both, whilst older children can enjoy three levels of soft play fun including three large slides, a mini sports court, a see through mini climbing wall, large climbing tunnel and lots more.

Around the frame parents will find tables and chairs to enable them to watch the kids play with a phone system to order food and drinks from the kitchen (see below for the menu) without having to leave the kids alone. The soft play area also has its own toilets and access to the party areas.

The entry cost to the Tameside Wellness Centre Soft Play area is priced at the same as the other iPlay Zones as follows  

  • Entry for under 1’s – £1.00 
  • Entry for those under 2’s – £2.00 
  • Over 3’s – £4.00
  • Accompanying Adults – Free

Tameside Wellness Centre Bowling Lanes

The eight lane bowling area is set in a large area with plenty of seating. Along with the usual ten pin bowling games, the Tameside Wellness Centre also offers Hyper Bowling with the aim to hit and avoid certain coloured lights on the retractable bumbers as well as knocking down the pins – perfect for both younger and older children.

Although flats and trainers are welcome on the lanes, bowling shoes will be available for those wearing heels or wishing for a change.

The bowling centre will also have direct access to the Tameside Wellness Centre cafe serving both hot and cold food (including vegan options) and drinks (see below for the menu). Alcohol will also be available from the counter. 

Tameside Wellness Centre Ten Pin Bowling Prices 

Bowling at Tameside Wellness will cost £5 for children and £7 for adults during peak times. Off peak prices will also be available. 

Tameside Wellness Centre Denton Swimming Pools

Replacing Active Denton the Tameside Wellness Centre offers two great sized swimming pools. The larger 25 meter pool has 8 lanes, is 0.9 meters in the shallow end and 1.8 meter in the deep end along with accesible steps. The smaller 17 meter pool has 3 lanes and a retractable floor altering the dept from 0 to 1.5 meters.

There is a large spectator areas with plenty of seating with spaces for buggies and wheelchairs and where drinks from the cafe are welcome. Outside the pool there is also stadium style seating for those wanting to watch in a quieter space, where you will also find plugs great for charging devices.

We understand that the swimming pool prices will be the same as at the other Active Tameside pools.

The changing rooms for the swimming pool at the Tameside Wellness Centre are unisex with a choice of single, double and large family cubicles. There are also seperate male and female communal changing areas and two large accessible changing areas.

There are also a variety of locker sizes with the extra large perfect for families without the need for two along with an area to store buggies.

The changing area also houses both open and cubical style showers, plenty of hair dryers and a large Changing Places accessible toilet.

Tameside Wellness Centre Health Suite 

For those wanting to relax, the Health Suite houses a sauna, steam room, a chill out zone, sensory shower and heated relaxation beds.

We understand that the Health Suite will be open to members of the public for an additional cost – to be confirmed. 


Tameside Wellness Centre Gym and Group Classes 

The gym and class rooms are located on the second floor of the centre and are accessible by lift. The gym is well equiped and has high speed broadband which can be used throughout the centre.

They will also and outdoor gym area and sensory garden which will open Summer 2020. 

Food at Tameside Wellness Centre Cafe 

The Tameside Wellness Centre will have it’s own cafe located at the heart of the centre. There will be two counters one located in the main seating area and in the bowling alley. 

The Cafe will serve a variety of food from breakfast, light bites, salads and lots more including vegan options. It will also serve a selection of drinks will alcohol served from the bowling counter. See images below for the full menus.

Memberships for the Tameside Wellness are now on sale and Active Tameside are currently offering 2 months free with no joining fee (subject to availability).
