Review: Cool Maker Hollywood Hair Extension Maker

Discover the new Cool Maker Hollywood Hair Extension Maker and what we thought.
The Hollywood Hair Extension Maker is one of the new lines in the Cool Maker series which allows children to create and style their own hair extensions. We were kindly the gifted the set for an honest review and asked our Mum in the Know Gemma and her eight-year-old daughter to check it out. Here is what they thought.
Review Of Cool Maker Hollywood Hair Extension Maker.
I love spending one on one time with my eight year old daughter Isabelle and there is nothing we like better than a good old pampering session. Whilst Isabelle loves trying out new hair styles I have to admit my skills very much lack in this area with a simple french plait being the most I can manage.
On seeing the new Cool Maker Hollywood Hair Extesion Maker it seemed like a great solution; my daughter could get a new hair look without me having to pointlessly watch a million YouTube videos.

What Age is The Cool Maker Hollywood Hair Extesion Maker For
The Cool Maker Hollywood Hair Extesion Maker is aimed at children over 8 years old.
How to Use The Cool Maker Hollywood Hair Extesion Maker.
On first look the Cool Maker looks a bit complicated but once we had it out of the box and had a quick look in the instruction booklet it is really easy to use.
First put the batteries into the Hollywood Hair Extension Maker and the place it on the bottom container unit.
Then you need to select your hair ribbon design, which for us was the hardest part of the process.
The set comes with seven plain and five patterned ribbons and the choice was just too much for my seven year old. After a long time deliberating and discovering that she could customise the plain ribbons with the included pens, she finally settled on the pink.
Thankfully Isabelle had a design in mind for her pink ribbon and happily customised it with blue polka dots. When she was happy with her design it was time to use the Hollywood Hair, Extension Maker.
To use you simply lift the lid, thread in the ribbon loop end first, then place the cog attached to the ribbon on to the machine. The instruction manual has a great diagram to show you how to do this correctly. You the close the lid, press the on button on the side and watch it do it’s magic shredding the ribbon into an extension. If you need to stop the machine at any time you simply press the button again.
Your extension is then done. You then have to decide if you would like it curled (see below) or to keep it straight. If keeping it straight you simply need to cut the end of the extentsion off , attach the hairclip and clip into your hair.
At it’s full length the extension was longer than Isabelle’s hair, so we decided to cut it slightly shorter to match.
How to curl the Hollywood Hair Extension
Along with the Hollywood Hair Extension Maker, the set also includes a heatless curling wand with two hair rollers.
Isabelle has wavy hair so decided that she wanted her hair extension to have a curl in it too.
Again the included instructions were easy to follow. You simply add the hair roller on to the pink wand, add the lopped end into the virtual slit at the top of the roller and then wrap the rest of the extension around moving it downwards. Once fully wrapped around you tuck the end into the horizontial slit at the bottom. Then remove the roller from the wand.
The set comes with a spray bottle which you need to fill with water. The instructions advise to spray the roller with attached extension eight times and then let it dry for two minutes before unwrapping it.
When we first unwrapped our extension it had a lovely curl but after my daughter messed around with it they did drop out. I fear this was more due to Isabelle over spraying the roller and having little patience waiting for it to dry.
Again you then need to cut the end, add the clip and attach it to your hair.
What We Thought About The Cool Maker Hollywood Hair Extension Maker.
We have had a lot of different creative kits over the years, some which have been great and others were very disappointing. I am happy to say that Cool Maker Hollywood Hair Extension Maker is definitely in the great category.
The set was easy for my eight year old by herself, it isn’t messy and small enough to store. The hair extensions can also be used over and over again with included holders to keep them neat.
I also like that you have the choice of customising the ribbons with the included pens along with a choice of funky pre-designs.
Although we didn’t manage to get the extension to curl correctly, I do feel that it was more our failure that the kit and Isabelle is keen to have another go.
Most importantly Isabelle loves the set. As soon as we had finished the first extension she was keen to start on the next one and started planning when she would wear them. She has already put the Cool Maker Hollywood Hair Extension Refil Kit on her Christmas list.
