Experiment at the Science and Industry Museum
The Science and Industry Museum Experiment floor offers the chance for children to get hands-on with science. From mixing colours to form shadows to lifting a real car, the Experiment floor will be a big hit with kids big and small.
Experiment also houses a small soft play area for younger children complete with bright blocks to be stacked, climbed, and toppled.
Textile Trails at The Science and Industry Museum
Head to the Textiles Gallery to discover how Manchester became the heart of the cotton trade.
Here kids can pick up a free activity trail and enjoy fun games and challenges exploring the objects in a fun way.
There is also a fun play area Textile City where children can build a textile tower, try their hand at weaving and more.
Plus you discover what the textile machines sounded like and how they worked in daily demonstrations.
The Revolution Manchester Show
Families can enjoy a free daily show in the New Warehouse on the ground floor of the museum.
Fun and interactive you can expect explosions and flying, steam as you discover the role Manchester played in the Industrial Revolution.
The shows run at set times during the day and last for 15 minutes.
Power Up
Kids and adults alike can enjoy an ultimate gaming and interactive experience.
Gaming fans will be in their element with the chance to play the most popular games from the past 40 years.
Expect the likes of Pong and Pacman, Streetfighter, Mario and Minecraft and more.
It runs weekends and school holidays and costs £8.00 per person for a day pass or £15 for an annual pass. Family discounts are available.

Experitots Toddler Group At Science and Industry Museum
Science and Industry Museum run a monthly Experitots session just for under 5’s.
The sessions are designed to help children and adults explore together before joining in songs, play, and multi-sensory fun.
The sessions are for kids babies and toddlers from 0 to 4 years and run term term only.

Mini Movers at Science and Industry Museum
Little ones can go on a Makaton-friendly adventure as they discover how our bodies work like machines.
The sessions run at weekends term time only at 10.15 am, 11.15 am and 12.15 am and are free and drop in.
Recommended for under 5’s.
Early Years Story Time
Help return a bear found at Liverpool Road Station.
You can discover different ways to travel sound effects in interactive story telling sessions.
The sessions run at weekends term time only at 1.15 pm, 2.15 pm and 3.15 pm are free and drop in.

Toddler Construction Packs
Under 5’s can enjoy fun around the museum with the free Construction Packs.
The packs include wooden tools, a high-vis jacket and hard hat.
You can borrow a rucksack from the information desk and are on a first come first served basis.
Family and Baby Facilities at the Science and Industry Museum

Breastfeeding is welcome throughout the museum and quiet space is available on request. The cafe is happy to warm up bottles and baby food.
There are baby changing facilities throughout the Museum of Science and Industry and reception offers emergency nappy packs.
The Museum of Science and Industry is buggy-friendly and also offers a buggy park near the entrance for those who don’t want to take it with you.
Food And Cafe At the Science and Industry Museum

On the ground floor of the Science and Industry Museum, you will find a lovely cafe offering hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, snacks cakes and kids’ meal deals.
They also have a Bistro on the same floor as Experitots serving hot meals made with seasonal and local produce, including kids’ meals.
Science and Industry Museum welcome picnics to the museum and have a large picnic area in the New Warehouse open during the school holidays and weekends.
