Moss Bank Park is also home to The Hive which offers a natural play area, nature trail and mud kitchen. Plus they run events during the school holidays.
12. Hyde Park
Hyde Park in Tameside is a popular choice for families. It offers a lovely playground, woodlands and a traditional bandstand.

Salford Tree Trail
Peel Park forms part of the Salford Tree Trail where you can attempt to spot 25 trees across the University campus, Peel Park, David Lewis Playing Fields and The Meadow.

16. Bruntwood Park
Bruntwood Park in Cheadle Stockport makes a great day out and has lots to offer for families.

Kids can expect bridges, towers to climb, huge slides, roundabouts and a big sand pit.
You will also find a bouncy castle in the summer months during holidays and school holidays.
BMX Track
Bruntwood Park is also home to a popular BMX track. The track is free to use as long as you are wearing the correct protective headgear and clothing.
Other Activities
The park also houses an 18 hole pitch and put golf course, indoor and outdoor archery areas and some lovely places to walk and green spaces.
There is also a nice on-site cafe.
17. Debdale Park
Located in Gorton Debdale Park offers lots of space and a great playground.
The Playground
The park has a large playground with small and large slides, large climbing nets, roundabouts, climbing frames, swings and more.
There is some seating around the edges and is a gated area for peace of mind.
Other Activities
Along with the playground Debdale Park has tennis courts and a small skate park both of which are free to use and grass football pitches which can be booked.
There are some nice pathways for walking and cycling along with access to the pathways around the reservoir where you may find blackberries to pick in the late summer and the chance to feed the ducks
Debdale Park is also home to an outdoor centre offering a range of water-based activities – bookable in advance.

18. Haigh Woodland Park
Haigh Hall Country Park, located in Wigan has lots to offer for families from a great playground to lovely walks, miniature golf and more.
The Playground at Haigh Woodland Park
The Playground at Haigh Hall is one of the more impressive options around Manchester.
Large in size it houses, mini zip wires, lots of climbing frames, swings of different shapes and sizes, electronic hit zones and mini tree houses
Younger children will also be able to enjoy a sandpit, mini diggers and a wooden climbing frame.
There is also a new fun trim trail complete with jump logs, rope runs, climbing frames and more.
Plus for kids who enjoy a bit more of an adventure that park also has its own high rope course – booking in advance is required.
Adventure Golf
It is also home to two mini adventure golf courses where you can test your putting skills.
Adventure Golf offers different themed holes and is ideal for challenging your family to a friendly game.
There is also a smaller Fun Golf course open during weekends and school holidays through the summer and usually only costs £1.00.
Miniature Railway
Haigh Woodland Park boasts not one but two miniature railways.
The Model Railway runs on Sundays from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm where you can enjoy a ride on the model train ride along the ⅓-mile-long track. The Rides are free to enjoy but donations are welcome.
The 15-inch miniature gauge railway runs along a ¾-mile track meandering through picturesque woodland, alongside small lakes, and pathways. There is a small cost for rides.
Woodland Trails
The park is surrounded by beautiful woodlands, with 40 miles of paths, which has a rich history including some of the UK’s last remaining ancient woodland, which has existed since at least the Middle Ages.
Food Court
All the above activities are sure to work up an appetite and at the Kitchen Courtyard, you will find something for all tastes.
You will find a great coffee shop, a bakery, an ice cream shop a chocolatier and even a tap bar, plus a restaurant serving a choice of options.
19. Clarence Park
Clarence Park is a popular park located in Bury and offers a fun day out for families.
The Playground
The park’s playground features a variety of equipment including climbing frames, swings, and a sandpit with something for all ages.
The Bike Library
The park is a hub for the Bury Bike Library, where you can hire a bike for up to a week. You need to be a member of the Bury Library services but can sign up to this on the day with ID.
Other Activities
Clarence Park also features a skate park, tennis courts and sports pitches along with a small lake for fishing and model boats.
There is also an onsite cafe and several picnic areas.
20. Walton Park
Walton Park in Sale has lots to offer for families looking for a day out.
The Playgrounds
The park has both a playground aimed at under 5’s and toddlers, along with a larger option for older kids from 7 to 14 years.
Here you will find a range of wooden climbing frames, swings and slides.
Miniature Steam Railway
Train lovers will be happy to find a miniature railway at the park.
Around 1/4 mile long it accommodates locomotives of 5 inch and 3 1/2 inch gauge. The train operators on Sundays weather permitting and availability of engines. Rides cost only 30p per ride for both children and adults.
Game Pitches and Courts
If your family loves to play games, there is a large multi-use games area, which features two hard tennis courts and a five-a-side football basketball court. all of these are free to use.
The park often runs community events including at Easter, Christmas and Halloween.
