Northern Lights Winter Parade, Stalybridge
The magical Northern Lights Winter Parade returns to Stalybridge.
Taking place on Saturday 15 November, launching Tameside’s festive season with one of the most popular Christmas events in Tameside.
The free, family-friendly parade runs from 5pm to 6pm, bringing illuminated lanterns, vibrant performances and a glowing atmosphere to the town centre.
Alongside the parade, a festive edition of Stalybridge Street Fest takes place from 4pm to 8pm, offering food, music and seasonal entertainment.
Earlier in the day, the Stalybridge Artisan Markets begin their Christmas celebrations from 11am, perfect for discovering handmade gifts and treats.
This year’s Winter Parade is delivered by Tameside Council with creative partners Global Grooves, Cabasa and No Eyed Theatre, working with local groups, artists and volunteers to create an unforgettable Stalybridge Christmas parade.

Northern Lights Winter Parade Route
The Northern Lights Winter Parade route starts on Waterloo Road near Stalybridge Bus Station, making it easy for visitors arriving by public transport. The parade then follows a well-lit path through the town centre, moving along Market Street and continuing down Melbourne Street, one of the key streets in the Stalybridge Christmas parade.
From there, the route heads toward Corporation Street, where the parade reaches its finale outside Stalybridge Civic Hall, right next to the busy Artisan Markets. The popular Stalybridge Street Fest at Armentieres Square is only a short walk from the end point, giving visitors plenty to explore before and after the event.
