February Half-Term Family Activities – The Whitworth, Manchester

Join The Whitworth this February half term for a programme of free, drop-in family activities.

Get creative with art inspired by the sea, explore outdoor play in the garden and park, and enjoy playful moments designed to spark imagination and curiosity. 

Dates and Times

Wednesday 18th February 2026 to Saturday 21st February 2026
Activities run on set days and times during museum opening hours:

• Wednesday 18th & Thursday 19th February – 10:30 am to 1:30 pm: Under the Sea with Yuki Kihara (creative art, drumming, storytelling). 
• Saturday 21st February – 10:30 am to 1:30 pm: Outdoor Art Club (garden and park play, mud painting, water play). 

What to Expect

Under the Sea with Yuki Kihara invites families to explore creativity inspired by ocean life and island culture through collage making, lively drumming and storytelling sessions. Dress up, make art together and enjoy playful workshops designed for all ages. 

Outdoor Art Club takes art outdoors in The Whitworth’s garden and park, offering stations for children and grown-ups to paint with mud, create potions and enjoy water play while connecting with nature. 

Cost

All activities are free and open to families on a drop-in basis. No booking is required — simply arrive during the session times listed above.

The gallery is free to enter and centrally located with public transport links nearby. Enjoy the collection, exhibitions, café and outdoor spaces before or after your activities.
