Celebrate summer in the fresh air and enjoy some great shows at outdoor theatre shows in Tameside this summer 2026.
The Tameside free outdoor theatre sessions are back for summer 2026.
As in previous years, the outdoor theatre will be travelling around Tameside parks during the summer school holidays.
The Outdoor Theatre in Tameside will be pay what you can, but tickets will be required to make sure everyone gets to enjoy the show.
There will be two shows per day in the same venue.
The tickets will be limited and will need to be booked in advance.

Circus Runaways, Victoria Park, Denton
Wednesday 29th July – 11.00 am and 2.00 pm.
Presented by Circus Runaways
Roll up, roll up for The Circus Runaways, a heartwarming 30-minute family show from The Circus House that combines circus skills, clowning and theatrical storytelling into a fun-filled adventure for all ages.
- Family Circus Show – Follow the adventures of three runaway performers as they search for where they belong, discovering friendship, teamwork and the true meaning of being part of a circus family.
- Amazing Circus Skills – Expect breath-taking acrobatics, inventive physical theatre, juggling, suitcase tricks and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments throughout the performance.
- Interactive Storytelling – This playful production blends comedy, storytelling and spectacular circus acts, keeping children entertained from beginning to end.
Suitable for all ages. Running time approximately 40 minutes.
Caspians Storm, Dukinfield Park
Wednesday 5th August – 11.00 am and 2.00 pm.
Dive into an unforgettable family adventure with Caspian’s Storm, a fun-filled interactive show from LASTheatre featuring puppetry, live music and plenty of laughs.
- A Magical Story – Meet Caspian, a curious little crab whose peaceful life in a rockpool is turned upside down when a mysterious storm sends him on an unexpected adventure between sea and land.
- Puppetry, Music & Comedy – Enjoy imaginative puppetry, toe-tapping songs, quirky humour and interactive moments that will keep children entertained throughout the performance.
- An Environmental Message – Alongside the fun, the show encourages families to think about protecting our oceans and caring for the natural world.

Family Arts Jam, Hyde Park
Wednesday 12th August – 11.00 am and 2.00 pm.
Enjoy a fantastic day of free family entertainment at Hyde Park as Family Arts Jam brings together outdoor theatre, live music, circus skills and creative workshops. Packed with performances and hands-on activities, it’s a brilliant opportunity for families to get creative and experience the arts together.
- Live Outdoor Theatre – Watch a programme of imaginative performances including The Great Horsey Jump Off, an interactive hobby horse adventure from Theatre Porto, The Pirate Princess, a joyful circus and clowning show, and Blast Off!, an intimate storytelling experience featuring a hand-cranked illustrated theatre.
- Live Music – Relax and enjoy performances from The Abney Orchestra throughout the day.
- Circus Workshops – Have a go at circus skills with Circus Sensible, including juggling, plate spinning, poi and other fun activities suitable for all abilities.
- Creative Arts & Environmental Workshops – Join a variety of hands-on activities led by Creeping Toad, Helen Dodsworth and Martha Webster, with nature-inspired crafts and inclusive creative sessions for all ages.
- Interactive Experiences – Discover Park Sound Scape, an immersive outdoor installation by Barry and Sara Han that transforms the park into an interactive sound experience.

Old MacDonald and the 3 Pigs Plus, Ryecroft Hall, Audenshaw
Wednesday 19th August 2026 – 11.00 am and 2.00 pm.
Join Old MacDonald and the Three Little Pigs for a lively, interactive family show packed with songs, laughter and audience participation. This colourful production combines two much-loved children’s stories into one fun-filled adventure that’s perfect for younger audiences.
- A Musical Adventure – Follow the Three Little Pigs as they leave Old MacDonald’s farm to build homes of their own, only to discover the Big Bad Wolf is never too far behind!
- Interactive Family Fun – Sing along to favourite songs, help the pigs outsmart the wolf and become part of the story with plenty of audience participation.
- Spectacular Theatre – Watch the story unfold from a giant five-metre storybook featuring impressive two-metre pop-up scenes, colourful characters and playful farmyard antics.

Reynard the Fox, Cheethams Parks, Stalybridge

Join The Fabularium for Reynard the Fox, a captivating outdoor theatre production filled with storytelling, live music, puppetry and larger-than-life characters. Celebrating 10 years of this much-loved family show, it’s a magical adventure that will delight audiences of all ages.
- A Classic Woodland Adventure – When the King’s Crown Jewels disappear, the mischievous Reynard the Fox becomes the prime suspect. Can the forest’s most notorious trickster prove his innocence before it’s too late?
- Storytelling, Puppetry & Live Music – Enjoy an enchanting performance featuring original live music, beautiful puppetry and The Fabularium’s striking handcrafted animal headpieces.
- Unique Outdoor Theatre – Performed from the company’s distinctive traditional wooden cart, this imaginative production combines humour, mystery and visual spectacle in a memorable theatrical experience.
