Free Outdoor Theatre in Tameside 2023

Celebrate summer in the fresh air and enjoy some great shows at the free outdoor theatre shows in Tameside this summer 2023. 

The Tameside free outdoor theatre sessions are back for summer 2023.

As in previous years, the free outdoor theatre will be travelling around Tameside parks during the summer school holidays 

Again the Outdoor Theatre in Tameside will be free but tickets will be required to make sure everyone gets to enjoy the show.

There will be two shows per day in the same venue. 

The tickets will be limited and will need to be booked in advance.

Tickets are being released in two phases – see below for details on how to get the second-release tickets.

The Crew Outdoor Theatre Show, Cheetham Park

Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th August 2023 

12.00 noon and 3.00pm each day

Taking place in Cheetham Park join The Fabularium for The Crew (working title)

Follow the all-seeing Albatross who has witnessed many a crew sail across the briny deep.

But when the forces of nature bring three unlikely companions together, the ultimate voyage across the seas will see them share one united purpose: Survival!

Inspired by eighteenth-century travelogues, they attempt to reignite humans’ relationship with open waters.

Tickets are free but limited and require booking.

The Crossroads Outdoor Theatre Show, Hyde Park

Tuesday 8th August 2023

11.30 am and 2.30 pm

Adam Blake will be bringing The Crossroads to Hyde Park this Summer Holidays.

A traveller is lost and comes across crossroads where a mysterious tree stands. The tree seems friendly enough, maybe they can stay here… forever?

But where has the traveller come from? Which do they need to go? And what exactly are they running from?

Join Kronos the Wizard to help finish their story, helping with the decision-making and take an active role in the shape of things to come.

This interactive show will let you jump up and become part of the action yourself!

Using masks, puppets and ridiculous physicality Adam will guide you on a magical and very silly quest to finish Kronos’ story. No one knows how it will all go but it’s sure to be a lot of fun getting there.

Recommended for kids over 5 years.

Tuesday 15th August 2023 – King George V Playing Fields

Wednesday 16th August 2023 – Hollingworth Primary School 

11.30 am and 2.30 pm 

Join in the fun of The Giant Balloon show at both King George Playing Fields and Hollingworth Primary school.

Expect feverous balloon sculptures, high-energy comic performances and the all-important giant balloon, which will have will have the audiences in stitches and in awe simultaneously.

Enjoy a fun theatrical experience, with an award-winning clown and an 80’s soundtrack and of course The Giant Balloon !

Suitable for all ages, with lots of audience interaction.

Free Falconry Dismay, Ryecroft Hall

Thursday 24th August 2023 

11.30 am and 2.30 pm 

Watch the extraordinary talents of 3 majestic birds of prey guided by their expert handler Kevin Tickle.

Be prepare to belly laugh through the raucous ride that is Falconry Dismay. Anarchic, wild and….educational?

Experience the breath-taking flying displays of these majestic Birds, showcasing their unique behaviours, personalities and flying techniques.

Please note no actual birds will be used in this performance.

The Ugly Duckling, Mossley Park (MOAT)

Wednesday 30th August 2023 

11.30 am and 2.30 pm 

Join Folksy Theatre at Mossley Park for a show filled with bold characters, live music, puppetry and audience interaction

Follow as mother duck’s eggs hatch and one duckling looks different from all the rest.  

The other ducklings laugh and make fun of him. The awkward little bird sets off on his own and is met with hecklers, hunters, and cruel weather.

Come and help him along on his journey which will be filled with live music, puppetry and colourful characters. 

It is recommended that you bring along your picnics, picnic blankets, folding chairs and friends and family, to enjoy this wonderful open-air, family musical!

The show is suitable for ages 3+ and tickets are required.

Tameside Outdoor Theatre In The Park Second Release Tickets 

To give everyone the chance to get tickets to the Tameside outdoor theatre shows the tickets will be released in two phases. 

The first phase tickets are available now. 

The second phase tickets will only be available with a password which will be sent via email one week before each show.
