Half Term Family Workshops, The Whirligig Woods, Kidsgrove
Keep the kids busy this half term with these fun Autumn workshops in The Whirligig Woods from Wild Rumpus.
Wild Rumpus, are opening up their woodland for a series of special family events this October half term 2021.
There will be a different session each day for families and kids to enjoy as follows.
Sketching and Drawing Workshop – Monday 25 October 10am – 12pm
Over sevens can release their inner artist and be inspired by the woodland around them. The workshop will be accessible to a mix of ability levels, from absolute beginners to keen artists.
Build a Terrarium Workshop – Tuesday 26 October, 10am – 12pm
Suitable for children aged 6 and over and their families green-fingered families can build their own terrarium, the perfect ecosystem for plants, and learn all about plant identification in a workshop led by local plantswoman Becky Burns.
Creative Writing in Nature Workshop Wednesday 27 October, 11am – 12.30pm
Writer Bernadette McBride hosts a Nature Writing for school-age children, in which kids will get the chance to write their own story inspired by the woods and take part in lots of nature-inspired activities around boosting self-esteem.
Introduction to Mindfulness Workshop – Thursday 28 October, 11am – 1pm
Aimed at children aged 7 and over and their families, unwind in an Introduction to Mindfulness class exploring the art of mindfulness and learn some practical tools which can be integrated into daily life.
Puppetry Workshop Friday 29 October, 10am – 12pm
Children over 7 years and their family can let their imaginations loose in a Puppetry Workshop with Mike from acclaimed street arts company Dizzy O’Dare, where they’ll create their own traditional Japanese Bunraku puppet and learn a few techniques to breathe life into their creations.
