Play Time, Free Summer Holidays at The Whitworth

Enjoy lots of free fun this summer holidays 2022 at The Whitworth Art Gallery Play Time.
This summer from the 2nd to the 31st of August, The Whitworth Art Gallery (just outside of Manchester City Centre) will be exploring the art of play.
All the sessions are free and drop-in.
They have lots of different fun sessions in-store and you can check them all below.

Scrap Studio at The Whitworth
Every Tuesday to Thursday Throughout August from 1.00pm to – 4.00pm
Head to the Clore Garden Studio where you will discover lots of open-ended recycled equipment to be play with in the Art Garden and Park.
The equipment will include:
- Old tyres,
- Large reels,
- Huge tubes and pipes,
- Big boxes,
- Crates, and much more,
All offering a whole of possibilities to explore, play and create with.
The Whitworth Scrap Baby
Every Tuesday to Thursday Throughout August from 1.00pm to – 4.00pm
Babies don’t need to miss out on the scap studio fun with their own fun Scrap Baby session.
Babies can have the chance to try sensory play using objects from the Shop of Creativity.
Learn how low-cost recycled objects can be used for open-ended play for babies and their grown-ups.
Minecraft At The Whitworth
Tuesdays to Wednesdays 1–5pm
Thursdays to Sundays 10am–5pm
Minecraft fans can have lots of fun this summer at The Whitworth.
There will chance to play the specially designed Whitworth Minecraft arcade machines located in School of Creativity space.
Quiet Mornings at The Whitworth
Wednesdays 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st August, 10.00am to 11.30am
The School of Creativity will be closed off to allow the opportunity to play in a quieter environment.
Families with additional needs will be able to enjoy multi-sensory, open-ended play.
A Grand (parents) Day Out
Fridays – 5th and 19th August, 1.00pm to 3.00pm
Grandparents can bring their grandchildren for these afternoons of scrap-themed activities with our Age Friendly group, the Artivists.
National Play Day Festival at The Whitworth
Wednesday 3rd August
Enjoy an ‘Our Year Play Day’ event organised by Manchester Play Network and Manchester City Council.
Whitworth Park buzzing with free play, games, activities, arts and crafts, free food and goodies!

Black Gold Arts
Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th August
The Black Gold Arts – Whitworth Takeover, is a two-day outdoor music and arts festival that showcases the very best, live music, DJs, dance, performance, fashion, and a catwalk.
Plus it is all for FREE!
