Tameside to host a Christmas Lantern Parade and Winter Carnival 2019

Tameside are hosting a Tameside Winter Carnival and Lantern Parade with Northern Lights for Christmas 2019.

The  spectacular winter carnival will launch Tameside’s Christmas Light Switch On celebrations for 2019 and will take place in Stalybridge On Saturday 16th November 2019

The Tameside-wide Northern Lights event will include a dazzling lantern parade as well as beautiful and atmospheric lights showcasing key features of the town.

The lantern parade, will end in Armentieres Square where you will discover a whole host of entertainment including the Stalybridge Christmas lights switch on. See here for details of the Tameside Lantern Parade. 

There will also be a Christmas Craft Market in Stalybridge Civic Hall on the day from 11am, with a fun fair and wide variety of festive and artisan stalls including delicious food and drink.

The parade is being organised by Tameside Council and international festival specialists Global Grooves and will include local dance troops and community groups. 

Families and individuals can involved with the lantern parade and lantern making workshops at Astley Cheetham Art Gallery and community groups and schools will also be making lanterns for the parade.
