Using Nadiya’s Bake Me a Story Deluxe Baking Set
On seeing the baking set my eight year old of course couldn't wait to get started. Within minutes of it being opened she had the apron on, examined all the equipment and started looking the through the recipes.
It was great to see that all the items are a good quality and my daughter was instantly attracted to the bright colours; and I loved that there was no needless plastic in the box and that includes reusable cupcake cases rather than a one use paper set.
After some consideration and looking through our cupboards (my daughter had no patience for me to go to the shops first) we decided on the Star Anise Gingerbread Men. Although we didn't have any of the star anise in, the recipe said we could swap it for nutmeg, which we did have.
My daughter decided that she wanted to take charge of the baking and started to read the recipe, which was very easy to follow. She selected the equipment that she would need from the set and once she began to use it, it became apparent that the size had been well thought out. The size small and light enough for my daughter to use on her own but big enough for the full recipe and for me to use if needed. She definitley won't be growing out of it soon.
Part of the recipe required us to use the hob to heat some of the ingredients which of course I supervised, but other than this, and placing the gingerbread men in the oven, my daughter made the recipe all by herself.
What We Thought About Nadiya’s Bake Me a Story Deluxe Baking Set
Over the years we have had a fair few kids baking sets but they have never been that practical and ended up in the play kitchen. I must admit I was expecting this one to be the same, but I couldn't have more wrong.
The set is lovely and colourful, the right size for children to use and most importantly the equipment works well; the cookie cutters actually cuts, the apron fits with room to grow and the bowl is big enough to fit all the ingredients.
The equipment being designed for children and the easy to follow recipe card also seemed to give my daughter extra confidence. As mentioned above she completely took charge and was very proud of the result, which I have to say tasted delicious.
She is now planning what to bake next.
