A Mole like No Other is a heartwarming, traditional tale, which is reminiscent of childhood favourites such as Winnie the Poo and the Magic Faraway tree with elements of Toy Story thrown in for good measure.

I read the book with my eight-year-old daughter who found the story easy to read and to follow but who was interested throughout.

The book follows Moley, an unloved, and unwanted toy who is given a new lease of life when he is adopted by a young boy called Ashley. Moley slowly learns what is like to be wanted again whilst navigating new friendships and adventures on the way.

As discovers his new life, Moley also has to navigate moral dilemmas, most notably his disagreement with Owl. I won’t spoil how it is resolved but such parts of the story sparked lovely discussions about the best ways we would resolve and handle similar situations.

A Mole Like No Other also features some lovely illustrations which my daughter loved to look at and helped reinforce the story.

What We Thought About A Mole Like No Other Book?

I and my daughter both enjoyed A Mole Like No Other, the story was heartwarming and educational, leading to some lovely discussions about dispute resolutions.

My daughter really liked Moley as she was able to relate to him stating that she liked him because he felt like a real character.

I loved the illustrations and the overall size of the book- which was larger than average and lovely to hold.

A Mole like no Other is a great book for more confident readers to read independently and fantastic to share as a read-aloud novel with younger readers 5+.

Although recommended for children from age 5 to 8 years I feel older children up to the age of 10 will also enjoy this story.
