Heaton Park, Manchester

Heaton Park is Manchester's biggest park with two big playgrounds, a boating lake skate park, football pitches, golf and more.
Playgrounds at Heaton Park
Heaton Park has two large playgrounds.
The first is located in the North of the Park at the Margaret St entrance and car park near to the animal centre. It features an array of small and large climbing frames, swings, water play and a huge slide for older children.
The second and newer playground Lakeside Adventure Playground is in the South of the park near the boating lake. It features tree houses, balancing logs, swings, logs, slides, huge climbing frames and lots more for all ages and abilities.
Other Activities at Heaton Park
Along with the two popular playgrounds, the park has a boating lake, an 18 hole golf course, pitch and put, football pitches, all off which require booking in advance - see link below.
There are some nice pathways for walking, hills perfect for rolling down and offer orienteering course with maps available from the office at the animal centre.

Animal Centre at Heaton Park
The Animal Centre at Heaton Park offers free entry and has a whole host of animals from chickens, goats, pigs, guinea pigs, rabbits as well as more exotic species such as alpacas. Plus you may see the one of their peacocks in full bloom.
There are also highland cattle, along with horses and donkeys in the fields.
Facilities at Debdale Park
There are public toilets at near to the Animal Centre and Boathouse cafe next to the boating lake.
Cafes and Food at Debdale Park
Heaton Park has cafes located near to the Animal Centre and the boating lake. Both serve a selection of hot and cold food and drinks. You will also find a big selection of hand-rolled ice cream.
There are also cafes located at the Heaton Park Garden Centre and Golf Club.
During the weekends and school holidays, you will also usually find an ice cream van or two.
Events at Heaton Park

Heaton Park has five car parks the nearest to the North Playground and Animal Centre is located at the Margaret St Entrance M25 2GT.
The other car parks cant be found at the following locations:

Golf Car Park M25 2SW
Garden Centre Car Park M25 2G
Hall Car Park M25 2GT
The car parks pay and display cost £1 for one hour, £2 for one to three hours and £3 for over three hours and you can pay with either cash or card.
Public Transport to Heaton Park, Manchester
The Metrolink stops outside Heaton Park and you can get the tram from Manchester City Centre.
The Metrolink also offers Park and Rides at Bury Interchange, Radcliffe and Whitefield offer a quick and easy way to get to Heaton Park and Bowker Vale stops, both of which are within just a few minutes walking distance of the park.
Heaton Park is served by the x35, 59, 90, 135, 149, 156, 164 and 484 buses.
