Review of Winter Wonderland Manchester 2021

We have always been big fans of Winter Wonderland Manchester and we were very disappointed when they didn’t return for Christmas 2018. We were therefore really excited when we heard it was returning to Event City this year.

Event City is located near to the Trafford Centre and boasts a large free car park. At the entrance, there is a security bag check desk and it is advised to allow plenty of time to get through this.

Once we were inside we were excited to see that the famous Winter Wonderland pre entertainment had returned along with the exciting countdown and entry into the giant indoor theme park to a huge flurry of snow.

Once inside we were greeted to the site over 50 rides which were all included in the ticket price. My nine and twelve years olds were instantly excited running around looking for which attraction they would try first.

They decided on an inflatable bouncy assault course which they both loved; this was quickly followed by the glass maze and the funhouse.  . There were lots of options for all ages from different inflatables, teacups, flying Dumbo rides, and merry go rounds for little ones.

At our last visit, my children had not been tall enough to go a lot of the rides aimed at older children and adults. They were therefore over the moon to discover this year they met the height requirement.

Review Winter Wonderland Manchester 2021 Gravity ride

My twelve year old quickly decided he wanted to try the Gravity Machine and which he loved so much he returned time and time again with an impressive 7 rides in total. My nine-year braved the Rodeo Bull and persuaded me to join her. Whilst she mostly managed to stay on, to the amusement of my kids and friend I fell off within seconds of getting on and whimped out of trying again.

Luckily we bumped into friends who have older children so I managed to get out of going on any other rides I didn’t fancy. I was very thankful when seeing how many times they all went on the Waltzers, the Twist and the Side Kick.

It is not just rides that are on offer at Winter Wonderland. You will also find some great shows.

Review Winter Wonderland Manchester 2021 shows

The 2021 lineup includes Milskakes Daisy and Ollie, Jedi Training, Ice Princess show, and the Wizard Of Oz Mini Pantomime. Although we didn’t sit down to watch a full, the rides were just too enticing for the kids, we did catch bits that looked great and which those watching seemed to really enjoy. There is also a circus show in the big top which I popped into briefly to watch a couple of the acts which were of high quality and quite mesmerising.

All the excitement of the rides can build up an appetite and Winter Wonderland has a good array of stalls offering the likes of bratwurst, fish and chips, burgers, ice cream, an impressive build your own Slushie bar and lots more. We tried Gyros, and Churros both of which were delicious. Visitors are also welcome to bring in their own food and will find picnic tables near the main stage.

Review Winter Wonderland Manchester 2021 Food

Of course, no Winter Wonderland would be complete without a Santa’s grotto (available until Christmas eve). Although we didn’t venture in this time, in previous years it has been great and looked great from the outside. Gifts are available from Santa at an extra cost.

What we thought about Winter Wonderland Manchester 2021.

I had been slightly worried that this Winter Wonderland Manchester wouldn’t live up to our memories, however, I am glad to say it did not disappoint.

From the moment arrived the kids didn’t stop smiling and absolutely adored that they can go on the rides as many times especially as they hardly had to queue.

It was great to see a Christmas event with elements for the whole family to enjoy from toddlers to adults. And with the rides, shows, activities, Santa and festive food all under one roof, it makes a great Christmas family day out which we highly recommend.
