Free Online Kids Classes and Lessons During the School Closures

From PE and ballet to history, maths and art classes, help keep the kids busy and learning with these great free classes and lessons.
Lockdown three has begun, the schools are closed and we are back to homeschooling the kids.
Although schools are now required to provide lessons and work, it doesn’t mean that homeschooling won’t be stressful and we won’t be hearing the dreaded words ‘I’m bored’. To help you keep the kids busy and learn some new skills, plus give you the chance to have a few minutes break lots of amazing and talented people have put together some great classes and lessons.

Free Online Exercise and Sports Classes For Kids
With us all being advised to stay in our homes and our gardens as much as possible, getting the kids moving each day and staying healthy is important as ever.

PE With Joe Wicks – All Ages
Taking place live on YouTube Monday to Friday at 9.00am, personal trainer Joe Wicks is offering free 30 minute PE lessons for both kids and adults. The lesson consists of a series of small exercises with breaks in between. Don’t worry if you miss the live version as the videos are also saved to his YouTube Channel and make sure you join in too.

GoNoodle – Primary School Children
A popular YouTube channel used by schools in the USA, the sessions are themed with cartoon graphics to get kids moving.

Free Online Drawing and Art Lessons for Kids
Kids love drawing and making their own art but if they need a little bit of inspriation or want to hone the skills, check out our top picks of free online drawing and art classes for kids.
Draw with Rob – Primary School Ages (although Other Ages will Enjoy).
Run by Rob Biddulph an award-winning author and illustrator, the Draw with Rob sessions run live on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10.00 am on YouTube and Facebook. The lessons take you through how to draw characters from his book on a step by step basis.
Our Mum on The Go Gemma and her children tried the Draw With Rob sessions during the first lockdown. She said told us ‘my 10 and 7 year old love the Draw With Rob classes. The instructions were easy to follow, the kids loved showing off their finished masterpieces and I didn’t hear a peep out of them during the classes- win win.”

The Doodle Hub All Ages – Beginners Ability
Brought to you by Manchester Artisit Victoria Lysaght the owner of Teacup Doodles. The lessons run each morning live at 8.00am and then saved into a fun Facebook Group The Doodle Hub. The lessons are easy to follow and so far have featured woodland animals such as foxes and hedgehogs.

McArt Studio – Older Children (KS2 to Adults)
McArt Studio has been posting art tutorials each day on their Facebook channel offering how to draw more detailed drawings with lots of tips. The introdcution to the posts indicate what the kids will need such as paper, crayons, colouring pencils etc.

Strictly Come Dancing’s Oti Mabuse is back with live videos on Facebook and YouTube with fun dance lessons. The videos are available on catch up with different themes each lesson. Along with the new videos the dance lessons from the first lockdown are also available.

The Ballet Coach – All Ages
The Ballet Coach is an English National Ballet School trained dancer and who during the first lockdown offered a range of free live ballet classes for all ages. Although she appears to no longer be offering the live classes she is providing ballet lessons ( again for all ages and abilities) on her YouTube channel.

Let’s Go Live with Maddie and Greg – Primary School Children of all ages
TV Presenter will be Maddie Moat will be back with Lets Go Live live science and nature sessions on YouTube on Monday Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11.00 am (catch up available). The sessions will have a different theme each week, there will be quizzes, crafts to make and more. Plus they are providing links to additional resources in the video description such as comprehensions for children to do afterwards.

Free Online Music Lessons for Kids
Myleene’s Music Klass – All Ages
These free lessons from Myleene Klass started in the first lockdown and are continuing. They show children the basics, difference between major and minor, how to read music, clap our rhythms and more. We understand the sessions will be running twice a week but it is not clear on upload times, so you may have to keep checking back.
