Whether you plan on having a big street party, a little get-together or just plan on watching the event on TV, we have put together some great free coronation printables to get the kids involved. 

Why is Kings Charles having a Coronation?

Kings Charles became King on the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II on 8th September 2022. 

At 73 years old he became the oldest monarch to take the British throne. 

Although King Charles became King when the Queen died, the coronation is the formal ceremony that gives the monarch their regal powers.

It is used as a celebration to present the new king to the country and the world and it is when the crown is physically placed on King Charles III head. 

When is King Charles’s III Coronation Taking Place? 

 King Charles’s Coronation will take place on Saturday 6th May 2023 at Westminister Abbey.

What Time Will The Coronation Start?

The coronation will start at 11.00 am, there will also be the King’s Possession starting at 2.00 pm. 

Where can you watch Kings Charles III Coronation?

The coronation will be broadcast all over the world. 

In the UK You will be able to watch the coronation live on the BBC. 

ITV1 will also show coverage of the ceremony of the possessions.

If you want to mark the coronation and get the kids involved, we have created some free colouring bunting. 

The bunting is great for helping to decorate your garden, house or even your street if you’re going to a big party. 

We have created a few different styles that you can mix and match or just choose your favourite and print them off. 

It is easy to put together and you can print off as many flags as your need for your event. 

How to Make the coronation bunting?

The Coronation Bunting is easy to make. 

You will need: 

  • Colouring bunting flags – see below for the free download
  • Colouring pencils or pens
  • Scissors
  • String or wool to your desired length 
  • Glue or tape

 The bunting is easy to put together using these steps: 

  • Print off the bunting flags by clicking the link below
  • Get the kids to colour them in 
  • Cut out the triangles making sure you include the top tab – or ask the kids to do it if they are older
  • Fold over the tab towards the back of the bunting
  • Lay out the bunting face down and place the string or wool under the flap
  • Attach the string or wool using glue or the tape
  • Spread out each flag equally making sure you leave enough string at the ends to attach to the walls or the fence

How To Make the Union Jack Flags 

To make the Union Jack Flags you will need 

  • Colouring flags – see below for the free download
  • Colouring pencils or pens
  • Scissors
  • Skewers or sticks (maybe from a trip to the park)
  • Glue or tape

The flags are easy to put together:

  • Print off the Union Jack flags by clicking the link below
  • Get the kids to colour them in 
  • Cut out them making sure you include the side tab – or ask the kids to do it if they are older
  • Fold over the tab towards the back of the flag
  • Lay out the flag face down and place the stick or skewer inside the flap – pointy bit inside for safety.
  • Attach the stick or skewer using glue or tape
