Manchester City council has extended the closure of Hyde Road in the vicinity of the ongoing roadworks.

Manchester City Council’s ‘working patterns and traffic management’ website page has been updated to indicate that Hyde Road between Far Lane and Wall Way will remain closed until Sunday 7th February 2021.

The council had previously announced on their Facebook page that the road would reopen on Friday 29th January, however this has now been extended.

The road has been undergoing major works in this area since early 2020 in order to widen the road.

There had been a planned closure of Hyde Road during the weekend of 15th January 2021 however the council announced on the 14th January that the closure would be postponed until to 22nd January ending on the 25th January.

However, due to a burst water pipe which flooded the area on Friday 16th January the road was closed early to correct the damage. It was indicated that road would re-open on Wednesday 20th.

Manchester City Council has said on Facebook “following the water-main burst in Gorton last week, Hyde Road in the vicinity of the road works will remain closed until 29 January.

This is to allow us to undertake essential safety tests on the carriageway.”

They have advised that more information can be found at http://orlo.uk/Road_Improvements_nAO8K.
