Lot’s of Greater Manchester’s recycling centres will open this weekend with social new distancing measures in place.
The chosen recycling centres will open from the Saturday 2nd May will some centres only opening at weekends.
In order to protect the health and safety of visitors and members of public there will be new social distancing measures in place.
The opened centres will only be accepting bagged general waste and residents will need to bring proof of address with them. In addition, there will be a a traffic control system will be in place based on the last number of your licence plate being odd or even. See link below.
The descision to reopen recycling centres was at Greater Manchester COVID-19 Emergency Committee and the reopening will be carefully managed with the assistance from Greater Manchesters Police.
The Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham has stressed the importance for people to still follow lockdown measures and asking that they only make essential trips to a waste or recycling centre. He said “While we are reopening centres, this is not a return to normal,”
“We would ask the public to limit their journeys and only travel to a household waste and recycling centre if it is absolutely essential to do so.
“If the situation becomes unmanageable we may have to reassess this decision, but that is not something we want to do and, I hope, will not become necessary.
“Let’s everyone stay safe and look after each other at this difficult time.”

Hurstwood Court BL3 2NH: Raikes Lane: Monday to Sunday 8am-6pm
Salford Road BL5 1DG: Open Saturday 8am-6pm and Sunday 10-4pm
Bury Recycling Centres
Cemetery Road, Radcliffe M26 4FT: Monday to Friday 9am-3pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am to 6pm
