Chinese New Year 2020 in Manchester Whats On

Celebrate the Year of the Dog and Chinese New Year and discover whats on, when and where in Manchester.
Chinese New Year for 2020 falls on Saturday 25th January 2020 and will mark the year of the rat.
The celebrations in Manchester will run on both the 25th and 26th January 2020 starting with the giant, glittering Goldren Dragon standing at 50ft tall which will be in St Ann’s Square for the weekend.
There will also be lots events on throughout the city centre including the famous Manchester Chinese New Year Dragon parade. Read on for times details and locations of all the Chinese New Year events on in Manchester.
Art of Chinese Calligraphy, Selfridges Exchange Square – 25th and 26th January 2020 – 1.00pm to 5.00pm
Selfidges is giving the chance to enjoy the art of Chinese calligraphy in a free session. Receive a complimentary tag that can be personalised with a name or message written in Chinese and taken home or placed onto a wishing tree on both Saturday and Sunday. There will also be traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony on Saturday.
Manchester Dragon Parade – 26th January 2020

Chinese Workshops at Manchester Art Gallery 26th January 2020 – 12.00noon – 4.00pm
Head to the Manchester Art Gallery for a series workshops taking place as part of Manchester Art Gallery’s celebrations and the chance to draw our teachers during their dance and tai chi performance. The sessions will be 12-1pm – Chinese dance workshop, 1-2pm – Guzheng performance, 2-3pm – Tai chi workshop, 3-4pm – Chinese flute (Dizi) performance.
